Let’s face it. As much as we’d like it to be, life isn’t always puppies and rainbows.
C is back to playing 2 soccer leagues (well, at the moment he’s playing in 3, but that should only last a hot minute), I’m still working full time (my shorter hours start back in another month!), J is playing soccer and coaching one of C’s teams, we’re planning for C to go to middle school next year (holy crap!), my tenant is moving out this month and another is moving in within a week, and we’re still trying to find time to see our friends and family AND spend some family/alone time.
I thought life would get easier the older C got, but I feel it actually getting harder. I worry about bullies and him fitting in (kids are MEAN these days!), I’m constantly driving him to soccer camps and practices (sometimes on the same day), I have to be available to take him to his friend’s houses and be home when he wants to invite friends over – which I’m more than happy to do, but sometimes it’s exhausting!
(enjoying Butterbeer in Harry Potter World at Universal this past January!)
Our Google calendar is constantly PACKED with soccer practices, soccer games, haircuts, doctor appointments, unicycle club, band practice, early release days from school…….shizzzz – the list is never-ending!
So J and I have had to make some hard decisions lately when it comes to our “stuff”. It’s not fair to C if he can’t do something because J and I are busy. In a perfect world we’d all get to do everything we want but, unfortunately, it’s not a perfect world.
Don’t get me wrong, life is good, we’re just going through one of those overwhelming periods and we’re doing a little adjusting. Being a responsible adult/parent isn’t always the most fun.
Luckily it’s the most rewarding job in the world.
So I’ll do whatever it takes to make him happy. And make sure he stays happy.
Have you had to make any hard decisions lately??
