Valentines Day Cake Balls
Happy Valentines Day, everyone! Can you believe J’s post?? I was so confused when I started getting emails referring to the “Valentines Day Hijack” post. It took me a few minutes before I realized what had happened.
It was the perfect Valentines Day surprise.
Nothing can top J’s surprise, but if something was going to come close, it would be these:

Cake balls!!!
Allison was a sweetheart and made J, C, and I some of these when J was sick. They were so incredibly good that I had to try them for myself.
I then considered it fate when Jessica posted about them recently. She said to use a mixer to combine the baked cake and frosting, which is genius. I was going to use my hands to mix it up!
The mixer worked like a charm. Check out the gooey center:

SO GOOD. And perfectly acceptable to eat 40 of them since they’re bite size, right?? Though my thighs might not agree…….
The pink ones are strawberry cake mixed with vanilla frosting and covered in white chocolate with a little food coloring mixed in.

The chocolate ones are white cake mixed with vanilla frosting and covered in dark chocolate.

They are both divine, but the strawberry is definitely my favorite! Next time I’ll probably stick to covering them in white chocolate, though, because I felt like the dark chocolate overpowered the flavor of the white cake. Maybe I need to dip the strawberry cake in the dark chocolate? Hmmmm…..the possibilities are endless…….
These definitely took some time, but they’re worth it. They are perfect for any occasion!
Have you tried cake balls? What’s your favorite flavor combination??

oooh these look wonderful!!!
I love balls!
That’s what she said… lol
I hadn’t thought to mix it with a mixer, though! Ah how the wheels are turning…
Those are so pretty! My cake balls always look ridiculous.
I love cake balls! Fun to make, say and eat! I love strawberry cake with cream cheese icing…can’t have it any more, but still my all time favorite. I hope you had a great day!
I might have to try and make these…..recipe please!!! Hope your boys spoiled you on Valentines Day
After reading your post and Allison’s recently, I am going to have to try these soon.
Sadly, the first thing I thought yesterday was -omg, he knows her password? Haha. No one knows any of my passwords! Then I realized he probably set up your whole website & most people know each others, right? I know, I have issues. Anyway, those look delicious- I would definitely dip the strawberry in chocolate!
Yours balls are beautiful.
I SO want to try these! The ones she made for the shower were adorable. They would be awesome to make for any kind of party. Thank you again for the gift! You are too sweet!
@Alana
LOL
ha, your chocolate ones look just like the ones in my post this morning! I love the pink centers – so pretty!
I missed the Hijack until just now. It brought a tear to my eye. What a great guy!
As for the cake balls, they are delicious. I usually take the part of the cake I cut off to level it, and make the “truffles” from that.
Nothing better than cake-balls! For reals! : )
Love your balls!
I never had cake balls until Amy (Second City Randomness) sent me some over the holidays and I ate them all myself. Didn’t share a single ball and I didn’t regret it!
i love cake balls or cake pops! Actually, anything with cake at this point and I’m avoiding the strawberry one in the kitchen right now.
Your pictures and balls are so pretty!!
I do have to say your husband’s surprise post was one of the sweetest things ever!!
My grandma has been making these since I was little I absolutely love them! Yours turned out fabulous.
