Foursquare told me so:

I believe it lately, though. I was so caught up in the Hunger Games series that life briefly consisted of nothing else.

I was even dreaming of living in the Seam and having to learn to use a bow and arrow. J and I make so many references to these books in our daily conversations it’s quite comical (or pathetic, one of the two).

But I can’t help it. I love a good book. And when I was offered the chance to review a running book I jumped all over it.

It’s the story of how (and why) Marshall Ulrich ran across the country. If you are training for a race, or even thinking about training for an event, I would especially recommend reading this book. It’s truly inspiring how he refused to give up even with temperatures reaching 100 degrees and/or he was injured, or when he was sleep deprived. The list of obstacles he encountered is ridiculously long. But his sheer determination and will to finish what he started (despite those obstacles) is what pulled me in.

I’ll be honest and say that it was a hard book to get into at first. I didn’t really like Marshall in the beginning. But once he started the actual journey across country I couldn’t put it down! There were many, many late nights due to this book.

I don’t want to give away too much because you have a chance to win a copy of this book for yourself! Just leave a comment on this post telling me one of your favorite books. That’s it. I’ll pick a winner tomorrow night! GOOD LUCK.

Please note that I was offered this book free of charge, along with a copy for one of you. As always, all comments and opinions about the book itself are my own.

I guess I’m a nerd too because reading is all I seem to want to do lately. I was a sucker for the Twilight books! I need to read the Hunger Games everyone I know who has like you, has nothing but good things to say!

Hands-down, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is one of my all-time favorites. I remember as a wee child watching the movie with my father, and over the years understanding more of the story by discussing it with him, and then grasping the various life lessons as I grew and matured. I eventually dove into the book and have read it so many times I can’t count. I don’t normally appreciate movies, but I feel the film adaptation was brilliant, though it doesn’t quite compare to the book. Since I have viewed the movie so many times, I often find myself reading along and the actors’ voices are what pop into my head like the are reading me the story in my mind. I swear I’m not on drugs! :) My favorite aspect our country’s history is the Civil Rights movement, and the victories won during time time period. Though this book doesn’t take place in that time-frame, but before it, it paints a vivid picture of racial inequality and gives the reader a greater understanding of what it may have been like to live in that world. I adore Atticus Finch and his ability to stand up for what is right and have the courage to do so in a climate that encouraged him to go along with the majority, which was opposite of what he knew he should do in his heart of hearts. Such a great story! I love it so much, I named one of my cats ‘Scout’ after one of the characters in the book! :)

Picking a favorite book is nearly impossible – there are so many good ones! I just finished “Heaven is for Real” and that was very moving.

I’ll read a variety of books, but time and time again, I obsess over collections of funny short stories. Sloane Crosley’s “How Did You Get This Number?” may be my favorite because I swear she and I would be best friends…

One of my favorite books is The Prophet by Kahil Gibran. A favorite teacher of mine gave it to me as a HS graduation gift. Anytime I need to reflect on something of any sort I find myself flipping through it finding a passage that speaks to me. I LOVE IT.

I am glad you loved the Hunger Games series. I cannot wait for the movies-we’re already planning a viewing complete with mini bottle of champagne snuck in to the movie theatre. My favorite book is Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca. It had me at the opening line. Rebecca also happens to be my favorite movie-Alfred Hitchcock, black and white, LOVE IT.

I actually really like “The Great Gatsby.” I know it was required in high school but I enjoyed it so much I went on to select the book for a project where I compared the novel to both movies based on the book. Total dork!

I just bought the Hunger Games series and I’m excited to get into it. I think my all time favorite book was Master of the Game by Sideny Sheldon.
