Time To Up My Game

February 19th, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

Ever since I last mentioned the “shrink Heather’s ass” plan, I’ve been stuck. At 10 pounds. Ugh, I just haven’t been able to break through it!

In all fairness, I also haven’t really been 100% committed. I’m not overindulging, but I haven’t been 100% on plan either.

And I seem to work better with a plan. Well, let’s call them short term goals. Goals pertaining to more than just exercise or more than just food. A better balance, if you will.

Three short term goals every week: one food related, one workout related, and one life related.

Here we go:

#1. NO MORE BIRTHDAY CAKE.

Granted, I’ve only had one piece, but I know myself. I’m a picker. A bite here, a bite there, a spoonful of frosting, etc. This sucker is sitting on the kitchen table just calling my name. So, NO MORE CAKE. Seriously, J, eat the cake. Eat it SOON.

#2. Get closer to my “100 double unders in 3 minutes” goal.

I’m at 88 (up from 82)! So stinkin close (but yet so far away – 12 more sounds like so many!). I seriously need my name on that board!

#3. No more wearing big, baggy t-shirts when at home.

I have this favorite race shirt that I wear all the time. It’s so soft and cozy and comfy – and it lists 3 of the marathons I have run! I’m wearing it in this picture J took of the pups last week:

Baggy t-shirts are not flattering. On anyone. Nor do they make you feel good and/or sexy. And I can guarantee that it’s not J’s favorite thing that I wear. So NO MORE. Besides, I just bought 3 of this shirt (in my defense, one was on the We Made Too Much site!), so it’s not like I’m lacking in clothes.

I know it’s already Tuesday, but here’s to a good week. I hope to see a loss on Friday!

Do you set weekly goals? Monthly? Not at all??

p.s. Only one more day to try your hand at winning a free week at Pure Barre!! And don’t forget to leave a comment for each tweet – I know there have been some tweets without comments. Good luck!

Oh Lady. I’m so glad I saw your post in my newsfeed. I couldn’t agree more about the baggy shirts. It makes such a defense and reminds you to stay focused. I need to start setting weekly and monthly goals but I’ve found daily create more positive behavioral change for me. Keep up the good work! You’ll be at 100 doubleunders in no time!

Rock it baby- rock it! I make longer term goals…I don’t know why I don’t ever try shorter term!

I love short term goals, makes me feel accomplished in my everyday life instead of always focusing on things months away. I’m not sure what your weekly workout routine is like now, but when I am trying to shed a couple pounds it’s always cardio cardio cardio to get rid of it. For me, weight training doesn’t do any quick fixes to my bloat. But helps with long term weight control I think.

ps love the decorating job on that cake!

I set short term goals all the time. Like go a week with out digging my spoon into the pb jar. If you saw the things I wear at home, there is nothing sexy about it, not to mention my hair. As soon as I walk in the door it’s sweats and all my hair off my face time. Good thing I don’t leave the house like that.

Haha, I’m that way with roasted kabocha squash lately! I can’t STOP eating it!!! I like setting goals now more than ever before. I really need to up my game with the running. I’m getting frustrated trying to break through my usual distance/pace. Good luck with the goals! I know you can do it!

Dude I have been pounding T and C’s birthday cake. I feel ya there. I want it to go stale soon. It’s soooo GD good!

I love baggy clothes when I’m working around the house. In fact, I’ve gotten pretty lax in my dress code for work as well. Hey, it’s a manufacturing shop and all the guys are covered in grease and metal chips. I’m allowed. ;)

As for you’re goals, not to worry, if you tweak either your diet or your fitness (take the pups out for an extra 30 minute walk during the day), you’ll find that will jump start the plateau back into action.

One more thing…. if you don’t want to change your diet by way of food ’cause maybe you eat pretty healthy now, change your diet in regards to the TIME you eat certain foods. e.g eat your carbohydrates before 1 pm. AFter that, focus on lean, lean protein, vegetables (nothing added except maybe salt, pepper, spice, herb).
If you get the munchies at night, eat 1/4 cup of almonds or nuts or maybe just a protein shake.

That’s great on the double unders! I really don’t set too many specific goals. Though lately it’s just been to try to pay more attention to my grazing. I grew up in a grazing family LOL

Love these ideas!! and I LOVE the devotion tee and am dying for one!! I too agree on baggy sweatshirts and tshirts!!I tend to send loose ongoing goals vs weekly or monthly. Right now one of mine is to do abs daily ;-)

I like the no baggy shirts thing. I am going to adopt this. Good tips!
