2013 Cleveland Marathon (10k)

Today was a good day. It was Cleveland Marathon day!

It all started on Friday at the VIP Reception (for sponsors and bloggers). I got to hang out with some of my favorite Cleveland runners, and feel special (hollerrrrrr, VIP treatment!). :)

And then this morning started out nice and early. J and I had a plan: drive to West 25th and then bike the rest of the way. We did this for two reasons:

  1. We didn’t have to deal with parking situation.
  2. We could sleep in longer since we didn’t have to deal with the parking situation! :)

We timed it perfectly because we got there just as the half and full marathons were starting. I love watching the start – and for some reason today I was real emotional – I couldn’t stop getting teary eyed watching everyone run!

After J finally wiped my tears and pulled me away from the start, we found our friend, Jen, and lined up to start the 10k.

3-2-1, GO!

The plan was for J and I to run this race together, but I should have known better. We never run good together. Never. And I know this (which is why we do Crossfit together now instead!). So once we started to get on each other’s nerves we finally just decided to run our own races (after about three and a half miles). Which is what we should have done from the beginning. Oh well, lesson finally learned.

It was a great morning to run, and I LOVED the new 10k course! Please, please, please keep this course, Cleveland!

And to everyone else who ran today, CONGRATULATIONS!! Whether you met your goal or not, no matter which race you ran, you are all ROCK STARS in my book. *hugs*

Do you like to run with your spouse/significant other?

As an official blogger for the Cleveland Marathon, I received a free entry to the race and VIP reception/brunch tickets. All thoughts are my own, as I support the Cleveland Marathon 100% and always, always will!

SO fun! Very cool that you got to be VIP. Love the top. I can’t run a race race with anyone. I’ve tried several times. I get nervous in large crowds and just need to get to my own space :). I’ve only ever run a race ONCE with someone…and that was the komen 5K with j

Woot congrats girl. Hubby and I run our own races usually. Exceptions have been the first half he did and then this year the LR half we ran separate but he ended up catching up b/c I was so hurt and he got me through the finish.

I love the biking plan! Neal & I do not run well together most of the time. It’s mostly because he gets frustrated and will say I’m too slow. Meh.

Love the biking plan! I think we have perfected the drive into downtown finally. We got there early and didn’t hit any road closures. Only took about 5 years to figure it out.
Obviously, I love running with my significant other but we usually only run together once a week. Our paces are too different to run together everyday. A lot of times we run together so we can talk and catch up since we don’t get to spend a lot of time together during the week.
Great Cleveland Marathon weekend and great to see you so much the past couple days.

Congrats on your 10K. I’m surprised you and J can’t run a race together. But, I’ll let you in on a secret: I’m 50/50 when it comes to running with my hubby. I enjoy it at the start but since he is less competitive than I am, I get anxious and impatient when I have to slow down. So when it comes to running Chicago this Fall, I’ve signed up for a race before AND after so I can get that annoying and impatient side of me out and run calm and “coach-like” with Ted in his first marathon. I don’t know how he stands me. ;)

I love your top! I used to train and run with my spouse but he doesn’t run much anymore. Sometimes I miss it! Sometimes ;)

    Bike plan is awesome!

My bf and I ran our very first race as a couple just a few weeks ago :) It was a blast!

yay, congrats on this race!! and running your own run :) M and I love to run together but he is faster than me, but always has the patience of I don’t know what, but always sticks with me. but then again we aren’t the racing type, so I guess maybe it would be different if we were ;-) congrats to you both!
