Crossfit for Charity
When I got a Facebook message last Friday asking if I’d want to do a partner Crossfit WOD for charity the next morning I was immediately intrigued. If you don’t know by now, I’m a sucker for a challenge (and a good cause!).
And when I found out we’d be home in plenty of time for me to get ready for the wedding, I was IN.
Crossfit Utility down in Akron.
Here was the workout:
The first five stations were split between partners – so, for example, my partner and I had to do 100 pull-ups total, not each. Each station had an 8 minute time cap, so if you didn’t finish the 100 pull-ups in 8 minutes you moved onto the next station regardless.
Allison and I both used a band for the pull-ups (there’s no way on this earth that I can do 50 pull-ups without a band) and we scaled the shoulder to overheads from 95 pounds to 75, but 95% of the girls did the same.
I don’t know if it was the anxiety of being at a brand new gym or what, but we did pretty damn good!
(I think she secretly wanted to kill me here. I pushed her pretty hard on the run………sorry, girl! But to be fair, she pushed me on everything else.)
Overall we came in 2nd place of the girl teams – I’d call that a win!
(this picture only shows the results from the first heat)
And see Lauren and Lauren’s (#7) time?? Yeah, they beat everyone by a mile! Ha, those girls both went to regionals and are badass city (and the one Lauren has FOUR KIDS!!).
It was really fun trying out another Crossfit gym and experiencing for myself how Crossfitters really are as friendly and welcoming as everyone says. Despite not knowing anyone but the 2 girls I went down there with, I never felt out of place. I love Crossfit.
When was the last time you did something spur of the moment? What was it??
