Remembering to Stretch
I used to be the queen of icing and stretching after a long run.
Especially because I had pesky IT band issues.
But now that I’ve been running shorter distances I let this habit fall to the wayside and, wouldn’t you know, last week my IT band started acting up again. Not enough to where I couldn’t run, but enough to let me know it’s there. Kinda like a little knock on the door……..saying hello, remember me???!
And since I’m running the Rite Aid Cleveland 10k in a few months I jumped back on it.
I stretch before I workout, after I workout (sometimes even during! haha), and at night before I go to bed.
I make sure my old lady butt gets to the gym early so I have enough time to stretch. While the youngins are warming up, I’m usually still stretching.
But it’s working. And I feel great! Everything is kinda just falling into place right now – I’m loving the results.
Are you diligent about stretching? What do you find needs the most attention? Definitely my IT band, ankles, and shoulders – they’re the worst!
