Scenes From The Weekend, 20

I figure I better catch up before this weekend!

Last weekend was a big one. It was one I had been planning for over a month.

Jay’s SURPRISE 40th birthday party!

I thought I had pulled off the surprise, but he started asking questions Saturday afternoon. He told me afterwards that he knew something was up when I started cleaning the house. (ha, he knows me well – it takes a lot to get me to clean!)

But we had friends coming in from out of town and staying with us (that he didn’t know about), so I couldn’t NOT clean. At least he told me he was only expecting a dinner, not 40+ of his friends! I’d call that a win?

It was a “Burgers N Beer” themed party. The cake pops and cupcakes both were made with beer (and the cupcakes were actually made with Jay’s home-brew!).

I asked that people bring Jay a craft brew as a gift, but I had no idea this would be the turnout from that request:

Whoa. Jay has a lot of friends. A lot of generous friends. :)

(Jer, you made the blog – hehe!!!)

Hopefully most of them will help him drink this stash. Well, if he lets them, I guess. Ha.

Sunday was spent recovering. Period.

Happy 40th, Babe. Here’s to 40 more!

Have you ever had a surprise party? A friend threw one for me in 8th grade – I had no idea about it until I saw people peaking out from under the curtains as we were walking up to the house. Ha.

p.s. The winner of the FREE entry to the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon will be announced tomorrow!!

    What a fun party!

I threw Dean’s surprise 30th a couple of years ago. I pulled it off, but there were some hiccups along the way :)

My brother in law threw a 30th surprise birthday party for me and my twin sister – the first and only one! And I’ll be right over to share some of those beers with J! :D
