Jeni’s Ice Cream

I’m just going to admit it now. J and I have an ice cream addiction. A serious ice cream addiction. One that I don’t think can ever be broken, and I’m not sure I want it to be, to be honest. Whoever created ice cream is a genius.

I’m a sweets person through and through. I will never pick chips and dip over cookies, cake, or ice cream. So, anytime we go out of town we try to seek out the local ice cream places (seriously, sometimes I think we travel just for the ice cream!!).

So way back in June when I registered for the Columbus race I knew we HAD to seek out Jeni’s. I have heard so many good things about this place from my Columbus blogger friends, and it’s also been on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate.

On our walk to dinner after the expo on Saturday we walked right past Jeni’s. Score! It’s really pretty ridiculous how excited we get about ice cream. I think all three of us were thinking about it during dinner. :)

You know it’s going to be good when there’s a line out the door.

We were a bit overwhelmed when we saw all the flavors.

So the first thing I asked was “Can we sample?” And when the guy working the counter replied, “Yes, as much as you want!”, I knew we were in the right place. :)

First thing on the list: Heirloom Pumpkin 5-Spice!

It was good, but a little too “pumpkin-y” for me (weird, considering I love pumpkin)?

I ended up with two signature flavors:

Both of these were phenomenal. I couldn’t have asked for me. The ice cream was so creamy and rich!

J got the Queen City Cayenne flavor that was featured on Food Network. The guy working the counter told us this was the very first flavor Jeni ever created. J LOVED it. The heat kinda hits your tongue after you swallow – it tasted almost like those little red hot candies, but in ice cream form!

The 3 of us all got different flavors, but all our cones looked the same! :)

Ever wonder what an 8 year old looks like after eating dark chocolate ice cream?

Hmmmm………I think he liked it.

Do you have a favorite ice cream or frozen yogurt joint? Please share!!! That may have to be our next vacation destination…. :)

Oh my gosh! What a cool spot! I love when they let you sample away. Your combination sounds just perfect. I’m a HUGE frozen yogurt fan. My favorite is a place called CeCe’s in Nashville. They have a pumpkin frozen yogurt that is out of this world. How cute is your little man

A line out the door in October? That’s intense!

I’m yet to try any of the little ice cream shops in Chicago… but I’ve got a very long checklist in my head of places I want to try!!!

Isn’t ice cream the best thing EVER?! I’ll be going to Columbus in November – I’m definitely making my friends go to Jeni’s!

I’m a Honey Hut girl through and through. They are known for their butter pecan, but I’m telling you that their pumpkin pecan is pretty epic.

We had our first Jeni’s experience at the end of August — Salty Caramel and Cherry Goat Cheese — OMG! AMAZING! I couldn’t get enough of the salty caramel and the Cherry Goat Cheese tasted JUST LIKE cheesecake with cherry topping — we can’t wait to go again!

Oh my goodness! I would totally road trip to Columbus try that ice cream. I love how unique all of the flavors are.

Theres a gelato place in DC that I’m totally in love with. It used to be across the street from my house and I think it’s a very good thing I moved away :) .

I totally remember seeing that on the Best Thing I Ever Ate – I would have gotten the spicy ice cream too – my daughter even gave me an icecream maker for Mother’s Day – I need to try to create that.

Whole Foods has a salted caramel gelato that is to die for – but I am more of a chip and dips person :D (damn diabetes!)

I love Jeni’s! Brady loves the Manhattan Float – Bourbon Vanilla Ice Cream with Makers Mark soaked cherries and pop! So good!

Pumpkin Tiramisu Parfait?!!! How could anything taste any better – it sounds so good.
I’m not a huge icecream fan but on occasion will go for a chocolate flavor loaded with caramel. No particular favorite brand.

Love me some Jeni’s! You can get it in Cleveland at Miles Road Farmer’s Market and they just announced that they are putting a location in Chagrin Falls. A couple Cleveland restaurants also use Jeni’s… Greenhouse Tavern and AMP 150.

I am so sorry that I didn’t get to see you while you were down here! I’m glad that you were able to experience Jeni’s though. :D Salty Caramel is my absolute favorite!

    Thanks for the shoutout :D
