Meet Heather

Hi!  Welcome to my blog!  My name is Heather, I’m 36 years old (eek!), and living in Cleveland, OH.  I’m a Diet Coke obsessed, marathon running triathlete, mom, & wife who enjoys exercise, cupcakes, and Marc Jacobs. :)

I started this blog as a way to document my very first marathon training.  I also have a full time job, an 10 year old, a husband, 2 dogs, and a running team that I coach.  It’s a delicate balance.  I want to show people (you!) that there is a way to find balance in your life in order to make yourself happy, and the people who depend on you happy, too.  I ran the Pittsburgh marathon on May 2nd, 2010 and wasn’t as happy with the experience as I thought I should be.  I ended up running the Cleveland marathon on May 16th (two weeks later) and felt fantastic!  It was everything I expected Pittsburgh to be, and am now proud to call myself a marathon runner.  Of course, I am now addicted, and have run 3 more marathons since them.  I am also currently the running coach for the Cleveland Liver Life Challenge team.  I love helping others reach their running/walking goals and being a part of the Team – it’s been nothing short of life changing.

I am also completely passionate about healthy living and whole foods.  In addition, I have a not so secret love for baking.  I don’t have as much time for this as I’d like, but one day I will.  Right now I’ll settle for my mom’s fantastic baking and my once in awhile homemade bread, cakes, and muffins:

Cranberry Orange Cookies

So, join me in my journey in balancing my many “jobs”, in addition to my marathon training!

    Hi Heather,
I’m looking forward to meeting you at Fit Bloggin. I thought I should touch base as I’ll have a car (probably a van) and if you want to commute from BWI to the hotel and/or back I’ll have plenty of room. I’m not staying at the hotel, so I will have a vehicle the whole trip.

Nice blog! I live a block off mile 23 of the Pittsburgh marathon. Ran my first marathon, Niagara Falls International marathon, on my 51st birthday last Sunday. Finished in 4:29:02.

Best of luck with your own birthday marathon in NYC and go Steelers!

Shut the front door! I just came over here from the POTM spreadsheet, just checking out a few blogs.. I CANNOT believe you were a twirler! I am 32 and my sister and I were competitive twirlers growing up. When I tell people I feel like a horn just grew out of my head because they look at me like it is such a weird thing to have done. I love seeing someone else who did and can understand rubbing holes in the soles of your shoes! I’ll probably be hanging out for a while and watching your progress. Thanks for blogging!

Hi Heather – I found your blog when I went to sign up for the Rite Aid 10k. I am not a good runner – in fact, I am a terrible runner. But I love being active and love the experience and feeling of crossing the finish line. What inspired me about you is that you have a job and a family and still find the time to train. This is where I am having trouble. Having twin toddlers (not 2 yet) and a husband that travels and working full time – I am exhausted by the time the kids go to bed. But your blog has inspired me to push through and train. Thanks for the dose of motivation that I needed.
