Icicles In My Hair
Hey there! Happy Sunday night! How was your weekend? Mine was busy as usual, but nothing too crazy. J and I went to see Black Swan yesterday and I spent half the movie with my hands covering my eyes. I’m such a big sissy when it comes to weird, creepy story lines like that. But I’m glad I got to see it – I needed to see what all the hype was about!
My scheduled long run today was 12 miles. Thank goodness I had asked a friend to run with me or I would have crawled right back into bed. Why? Because the HIGH for the day was 16! It was seriously cold out there this morning.
I made it to the park, and was happy, happy, happy to see the sunshine! It really helps when it’s this cold.

I tackled the first 4 miles solo and then met up with Andy:

Ok, let me tell you. This kid is FAST. Ridiculously fast. He was so nice to come out in 10 degree weather and run my pace this morning. Especially because I was slow(er than usual)! It was hard to get into a groove with all the snow on the path. Anyways, Andy’s going to try to qualify for Boston this year and I have no doubt in my mind that it’s going to happen for him!
Luckily (for me), he toughed out my slow pace. And then he inspired me to pose:

I hope that’s his “I’m tough and done running face”, not “I’m really angry at you, Heather, for making me run in this crazy azz cold weather.”

Yes, I still sweat in the freezing temperatures. Check it:

Icicles in my hair!
The good news is I finished 12 miles – it’s been awhile since I’ve accomplished that many miles (since Vegas?). The bad news is my right IT band is acting up. I don’t get it. My left IT band has finally healed (knock on wood) and I haven’t had any trouble with it at all and now my right one is causing problems. So much that I contemplated walking the last mile and I never do that. What is going on? I just can’t catch a break.
I spent all afternoon icing my leg, stretching, and icing some more. As a matter of fact, I need to do that some more before bed. J is preoccupied with the Steeler game so I have the one TV all to myself!
Hope you had a great day!
Did you watch football today? Do you care who goes to the superbowl? I could care less, but don’t tell J, ok?
