Traditions
What a bummer that it’s Sunday night already. And as much as I hate to go back to work tomorrow I know I have a lot to do before I leave for VEGAS Friday morning!!!!!!!!! That’s right, guys, Team Challenge is headed to Vegas on Friday – the half marathon is almost here!
We had our last team training run this morning, and I really believe that everyone is ready for this race. It’s really winding down for the participants, but amping up for me! I actually had a hard time falling asleep last night with everything running through my head on what I have to do as the coach. I’ll touch base on that later in the week, though.
Anyways, I realized earlier today that I never recapped Thanksgiving. But, to be honest, my pictures turned out horrible and it was a pretty normal Thanksgiving. Lots of food, family, fun, food, and more food.
J’s mom always goes out of her way to cook a feast for the family and I reap all the benefits (even though my jeans don’t really agree). J traditionally spends a lot of time in the kitchen with his mom.

Now if I could only get him to do the same with me!!! But I guess mother’s rule, don’t they? At least I hope that’s the case when C is older……!
In addition to it being Thanksgiving this past Thursday, it was also my dad’s birthday! Since we were in Pittsburgh for the holiday, C and I went over to my parent’s house today to visit and celebrate.

What do you think? Any family resemblance???
Traditionally we stay for dinner on Sundays at my parents, but we made it a shorter visit than usual so we could get home and start decorating for Christmas. C had the honors for the first time of putting the star on the tree:

He didn’t think he was gonna make it, but we made it work!

Like the whole row of missing lights on our hillbilly tree? That’s a pre-lit tree for ya. I swear another row of lights goes out every year. C and I cheered any time a whole row of lights actually lit up when we plugged it in!
It was so nice spending quality time with C tonight. We had Christmas music playing and just talked and talked while we decorated the house. He was so helpful and just seemed so much older. I even got a little teary after the star went on the tree. I see this being a tradition for years to come now…..
Do you have any holiday traditions??
