Do You Take Rest Days?
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who takes rest days. But I NEED them. My body can’t function without them. Seriously. Maybe it’s my age (don’t even want to talk about it), but my body definitely lets me know when I’ve done too many days in a row.
And lately it’s been screaming at me in the form of an achy IT band. It doesn’t “hurt” yet, but it’s definitely on the edge. So I’ve been taking extra precautions and trying to just be smart about it.
Like today, it was crazy beautiful out. But instead of pounding my legs on the pavement I made the decision to run on the treadmill since the surface is a lot more forgiving. I still got in my 6 miles, but hopefully the 6 miles were a lot less stressful on my body. Win win?
I’ve also been spending double the time on my foam roller and lots of time like this:

No more cuddling up on the couch at night with J. My nights are now spent on the floor stretching and laying with my legs up. It’s quite romantic.
And even though I don’t run everyday, I did check out my workouts on Dailymile and Friday will be 2 weeks since I’ve last taken a rest day. What what?! That’s not me. I don’t ever do that. Stupid. So this Friday is most definitely a rest day. And maybe a baking day. I have a tendency to bake on my rest days. Helps keep my husband happy when he wants to cuddle up and watch a movie and I’m cuddling with my foam roller instead.
What do you do on your rest days? Do you even take rest days??
